Hailing from Michigan where the cold winters would shut down construction, the DZ Corporation founders saw promise in Florida’s year-long favorable weather. It was this choice that changed the company’s fortune forever.
They had a clean slate after the move and began by taking on the hard jobs—ones that other companies walked away from, such as installing drain tile and stack block walls. In those first few years, it was a struggle to meet deadlines; the supply chain would halt at the block companies and DZ Corporation was forced to wait for the materials to become available. From this frustration emerged an opportunity: DZ Corporation could become an all-inclusive operation. They would manufacture and install the blocks, ensuring quality work in a timely manner. Seven years later, they added concrete to their repertoire.
